AS his tractor trundles towards the Atherton Tablelands, busy Scenic Rim 4Real milk founder Greg Dennis has checked in with the Times from Rockhampton.
Popularly known as Farmer Gregie, Mr Dennis is on a 2000-kilometre tractor journey to drum up support for Australian farmers.
Mr Dennis said the feedback so far has been very positive and the tractor trip had garnered considerable attention from local and national media and well-wishers keen to get behind the cause.
He said the trip had moved at a fast pace considering the tractor had a top speed of 42 kilometres per hour.
“It doesn’t seem as slow a trip in the tractor because we’re moving at top speed but I can imagine it would be pretty painful going that fast in the car,” he said.
Along speaking to farmers, shop owners, consumers and countless media outlets Mr Dennis stopped to have a chat with the agriculture students at Rockhampton Grammar School on Wednesday.
“They got to check out the tractor and we spoke to them for about an hour which was really good,” he said.
Next on the roster for Mr Dennis was making a presentation at the Pineapple Growers Field Day in Yeppoon on Thursday.
