Federal government tourism funding announced

Muttaburra is the major beneficiary of the projects announced under the Tourism Demand Driver Infrastructure Program, receiving $262,750 to build a centre to  house the skeleton of the Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni, along with interpretation on the ornithopod group of dinosaurs.

There is $151,000 for Winton’s Australian Age of Dinosaurs to construct fully accessible disabled-certified pathway infrastructure from the reception area to the Cretaceous Garden, and $117,906 for the installation of tourism signage across the Maranoa Regional Council area.

The aim of this signage is to safely direct tourists throughout the region's tourist attractions, showcase 'off the beaten track' drives and provide insight into the history, culture and lifestyle of the region.

Mr Littleproud said the the tourism dollar was increasingly important to building economic resilience in western Queensland and he looked forward to working closely with the industry if elected to represent Maranoa at the coming federal election.

“The tourism dollar provides a crucial stimulus to our communities across Maranoa, especially during times of drought,” he said.

“These federal funds will provide an important stimulus that will provide employment for local contractors and inject money into the community.

“These are bread and butter projects for our region and it’s great to be able to speak directly with the project proponents about their plans.”
