AN opportunity exists for cattle enthusiasts of all ages to attend the Santa Gertrudis judging and assessment school to be held at the Headingly Sale Complex, Clifton, over May 12-14.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals through practical demonstration, and refinement of skills.

Santa Gertrudis Australia breed classifiers Russell Gray and Geoff Coombe will deliver bull and female classification demonstrations on selecting animals with structural correctness, good confirmation, longevity, and pin point common faults.

Well known breed judge, Rob Sinnamon, general manager Yulgilbar Station, will speak on judging etiquette, and Fairfax Media's channel manager agriculture, Craig Chapman, will deliver an address on marketing and promotion of cattle. Brad James, Queensland state manager for Rabobank, will give an overview on the beef and protein market trends and predictions.

Following the event, participants are invited to a twilight race meeting at Clifford Park Racecourse on Saturday afternoon. To add flavour, races will carry the names of major sponsors including the Santa Gertrudis Breeders Association, Rabobank and the Glenn Oaks, Diamond H, Waco and Yarrawonga Studs.
