STEERS sold to a top of $1291.50 to average $961 at the Harold Curry annual Feature Angus and All Breed Sale in Tenterfield on March 17. The sale, which was the first to be interfaced with AuctionsPlus, saw 1823 cattle yarded.
Angus steers made 325c to 370c ($893) for a pen of 40 Angus weaner steers account Monica Hutchings, The Scrub, Tenterfield, to George and Furhmann, Warwick. The highest returning weaner steers were yarded by Michael and Pauline Hurtz, Glen Hope, Tenterfield, making $1291.50. The Hurtz’s sold 216 mixed sex weaners for $894.
Milton and Margaret Barratt’s Lyndale Partnership, Swamp Oak, Tenterfield, sold the 396.5kg champion pen of Angus weaner steers to Bob Jamieson Agencies for 325c ($1289). The Barratt’s sold 182 mixed sex weaners to average $1111. George and Helen Mulherin, Wilgoose, Tenterfield, sold 320kg Angus weaner heifers to Nowlan Stock and Station Agents, Killarney, for 293c ($939). The Mulherin’s 245 mixed sex weaners averaged $942 with the weaner steers topping $1131. Geoff & Yendis Johnson’s Geroma Partnership sold 231 mixed sex weaners to 360c for an average $974.
Col Cowin, Timber Top, Tenterfield, sold 313kg Poll Hereford steers for 352c ($1100). Their 255kg sisters made 319c ($813). The top weaner heifers made $1028 for Brian Chapman, Ellenthorpe, Tenterfield. Lex and Lorna Paterson yarded Angus steers 14-16 months with their prize winning pen selling for 330c ($1368) to Kerwee Lot Feeders.
