Brahmans opened the first days trade in a strong fashion at the annual February All Breeds Sale, Tuesday at CQLX, Gracemere.
Bulls topped $20,000 while heifers made to $12,000 in a sale that saw a complete reversal of form as opposed to the 2015 fixture. In all 124 Brahman bulls averaged $4573 to clear 89 percent of the catalogue. That average is a $727 per head increase over the 2015 result and a 26 percent jump in clearance levels for the same period. This male figure includes a used sire section where 10 bulls averaged $4100 to clear 83pc of the offering. When separated, 114 younger bulls averaged $4614 clearing 90pc of the book.
Similar demand was evident in the female section with 12 Brahman females averaging $4208 top clearing 80 pc of the catalogue. Their medium price jumped by $1947 per head and the clearance level at auction leapt by 20pc. After sale negotiations saw the female average climb even higher to $4316 for a complete clearance of the section.
Valuce 1342 (S) offered by Bruce and Val Childs, Valuce Stud, Bouldercombe topped proceedings. The 24-month-old, 738kg youngster by Tarramba Streamtrain (IVF) (P) (SRS Mr Steamboat (US)) sold to Bernie and Marion Kent, Wilga Vale, Greycliffe. Seven from Valuce averaged $6929. Top selling female was the last offered. Kenrol Seren D 2738 (S) a 13-month-old by Elrose Barocca (P) made $12,000. Offered by Ken and Wendy Cole, Kenrol Stud, Gracemere the granddaughter of the triple crown winner, Kenrol Serendipity 042 (ET) (H) sold to Kelvin and Margaret Moloney, Kenilworth Stud, Mt Coolon. Four Kenrol heifers averaged $5875 and a red bull fetched $5500. Top selling used sire was a former sale topper, the 1080kg, Chasmac Park Boswick Manso 151 (IVF) (H). The five-year-old by JDH Mr Manso 757/2 (US) sold to Ian and Debbie Frampton, Little Creek Stud, Widgee.
Lee and Gillian Collins, Wandilla Stud, Marlborough returned setting a $6000 average for their 18 topping at $14,000 for a red herd bull son (36-months) (804kg) (133 EMA) (11/9mm) by Kandoona Mellow (AI) (H) selling
Alan Williams, Riverside, Nebo. Riverside secured two Wandilla bulls to average $12,500 including a $11,000 son of Yoman 1426/6 aged 38-months.
John and Dawn Kirk, Carinya Stud, Gayndah sold their 23-month, 810kg, 130EMA, Carinya Kingswood (ET) (H) to Gavin Scott, Rosetta, Collinsville while Mitch Kirk, Carinya J Stud, Gayndah took a $9000 sale for his 26-month-old by Sha Ann Ele Wise Man (ET) (H) (770kg) selling to Jeff Mills, Melrose, Morinish. Melrose took four to average $6125. The Gabel family, Avee Stud, Woman sold their 30-month-old Avee 666 (P) (Lancefield A Cooper 3208 (AI) (ET) (P) for $12,000 to the Valmadre family, Cedar Bend Stud, Jambin. Cedar Bend outlaid $8750 for Blue Water Hills Image (H) (PBF Eumundi Manso 598/6 (AI) (ET) (H)) from Emanuel Pace’s, Blue Water Hills prefix, Mackay. BJ Thomas, Varossa Stud, Baralaba took a $6500 sale for his 25-month, Varossa Pocahontas (D) (PBF Penston Manso 39/9) selling to Mark Warnock, Scrubby Vale, Morinish. A pair from Blue Water Hills averaged $5375.
Jarvis Collins, Autobreed Stud, Glenroy averaged $5250 for his nine hitting a high of $9500 while Andy and Margaret Olsen, Neslo Stud, Wandoan averaged $4409 for their 12 males topping at $6500. Gracemere prefix, Jaffra Stud, operated by Ion Jackson took a $5500 average for his 14 while Kearin and Beth Streeter, Palmvale Stud, Marlborough ended their day with a $5438 average for nine. Terry and Susan Connor, Timbrel Stud, Rockhampton took a $6000 average for their trio.
The Stevens family, Cremona Station, Julia Creek took seven bulls to average $3858 and a pair of heifers for $3000 each while Sutherland Grazing, Bowen signed off on 11 to average $4090. The Parker family, Eastmere, Aramac averaged $4750 for their four while Rodney and June Jacobsen, Belbroughton, Kunwarara averaged $5000 for his five all from the Wandilla draft.
