THEY weren't actually fighting over the Angus bulls at the inaugural northern bull sale at the Emerald Saleyards but the determined buyers made sure they got what they came for.
“We’ve got plenty more at home and we probably should have bought them,” stud spokesman, Justin Boshammer said after the sale.
The sale consisted of 47 Sandon Glenoch Angus bulls originating from Chinchilla.
The sale topped at $7000 four times.
Koumala grazier Shane Griffin bought two of the top priced bulls.
Mr Griffin runs 121 hectares just outside Koumala and will use the two bulls over grey Brahman cows.
“These are my first straight Angus bulls and these Sandon Glenoch bulls are beautiful,” he said.
Station manager, Steven Tucker, TVF Pastoral, Glenbar Station, Theodore, paid $7000 for the 13-month-old, 717kg, Glenoch-JK Hombre.

Mr Tucker said the three bulls he purchased will cover a Brahman herd.
Andrew Fernie, Riverview Station, Clermont, secured Glenoch Hackle, a 14-month-old, 722kg, artificially inseminated son of American sire, Connealy Sensation.
Clermont based beef producer, Michael Goodwin purchased 11 bulls for the average price of $4363 to cover an agistment based Brahman herd.
“I saw a story on Landline recently that I’m sure said the majority of the cattle herd in Australia will be black by 2020,” Mr Goodwin said.
“I thought to myself, I’d better buy some of them.”
A first time Angus buyer, Mr Goodwin operates the newly formed, Australian Livestock P/L.
Scott and Julie-Ann Brown, Maywin Park, Tieri, selected six bulls at the sale for the average price of $5583.
Rodney Perrett, Bungawarra, Rolleston purchased four bulls for the average price of $4875.
