TARA'S 79th Annual Show saw a record number of livestock entries, making for a high-calibre competition.

Nine studs led 52 entries through the stud cattle competition, many of whom were experiencing their first showing.

Glen Waldron, Elite Charolais, Murwollock, Meandarra, claimed the prize for supreme exhibit of the show with bull Elite Jackal J4E.

Stud cattle judge Lindsay Blanch, Silverwood Charolais, Nanango, said the bull was a "magnificent example of the breed."

"As a Charolais breeder, I'd be proud to have one just like it," he said.

Mr Blanch said he was impressed by the bull's softness and smooth shoulders, while still being well-muscled in build.

"Stud breeders always strive for perfection, but don't often get there," Mr Blanch said.

"Looking at this bull, I find it hard to fault."

"I'm sure it could stand up against any bull in the country."

Mr Blanch added: "It delivers all. There's just enough softness to be able to flow through to its calves."
