Sal and I have decided to stage this Dulverton Female Production Sale to celebrate our 40 years
breeding Angus cattle – it is our number one passion and has been for the entirety 1981-2021.
The Dulverton breeding objectives have always been underpinned by the premise that “There is no other
reason to produce beef than to satisfy the consumer’s expectations for eating quality consistently and
price competitively”. Our obsession has been to find genetic measures for marbling (as measured on
the carcase) and tenderness. Therefore, we have welcomed the Neogen/Igenity genomic measures and
do provide this data set for your consideration re this set of sale females.
Its long been our belief that Beef Breed females need to exhibit a feminine form as characterised by
body length, well laid in shoulder, neck extension, minimal flat bone, plenty of body capacity including a
voluminous pelvic area, with that important “roll” hips through to wide set yet lower than the hips pin
bones, udder shape and attachment including fine teats is extremely important, so too is sound feet,
which along with the all important shoulder set and hock angulation promotes freedom of movement.
Soft, loose, pliable skin with fine slick hair is a must.
Female longevity / stayability is most important to our selection criteria
