Strong demand for pedigree backed by performance was reinforced again at Gracemere on Monday, with the 46th Lancefield Brahman Invitation Sale delivering outstanding results.
A bidding frenzy was sparked from the stands of CQLX as stud masters relished in the first opportunity to secure a son of NCC Justified - Australia's $325,000 record priced bull.
The sale offering saw 115 bulls sell once again for complete clearance, with final figures for the draft of bulls averaging a solid $18,987 - an impressive increase of over $6400 per head from 2019 sale results.
A line-up of 24 select stud heifers sold for a 100 per cent clearance, topping at $30,000 for an average of $8917. One semen package of five straws and five sire authorisations sold for $600/straw.
Stealing the limelight with a debut appearance and topping the sale for the day, saw Elrose Jury 187/49 (PS) - son of $325,000 Australian record priced bull NCC Justified - knocked down for a whopping $160,000.
Offered by Rodger and Lorena Jefferis, Elrose stud, Cloncurry, the 22-month-old out of dam Elrose B 9066, was snapped up by Tony Fenech, Fenech Grazing, Craiglea, Wowan.
Supplementary data showed the milk-tooth bull tipped the scales at 818 kilograms, boasting a scrotal circumference of 41 centimetres with recorded eye muscle area figures of 148 square centimetres, intramuscular fat of 5.0pc, and P8 and rib fat depths of 13mm and 10mm respectively.
Mr Fenech said he outlaid the top dollars for the bull as "he's a very balanced bull, and he is put together right".
"Temperament and conformation are the first things I look for," Mr Fenech said.
"Balance is everything, he has a good underline, a good topline and temperament.
"This bull is very hard to fault."
Keen interest to secure the NCC Justified son saw Glen Pfeffer, Mogul Brahman stud, Casino, NSW, as the underbidder for $160,000 Elrose Jury.
Rodger and Lorena Jefferis, Elrose stud, averaged $20,235 for their 2020 sale team of bulls and heifers.
Strong support continued as Lancefield S Morgan 5879/1 (PS) offered by vendors Scott and Lizette McCamley, Lancefield, Dululu, sold for $110,000 to Kelvin and Margaret Maloney, Kenilworth Brahmans, Mt Coolon.
Mrs Maloney said while they do chase poll genetics, "the aim of the game is meat".
"We are looking for an animal that is going to produce and breed on for us and put meat on our progeny," she said.
"We look at all the statistics and look for the one who is going to deliver that."
Sired by Lancefield S Talladega 5282/1 (PS) and out of dam Lancefield S Brancha 5486/1, the 26-month-old recorded a 42.5cm scrotal measurement, an EMA of 150sq cm and IMF of 4.2pc.
Scott and Lizette McCamley, Lancefield Brahmans, saw a strong sale average of $24,875 for their 16 head.
"The sale was strong all the way through, right through to the last bull, and this reflected the quality of the cattle," Mrs McCamley said.
Topping in the red section for bulls saw Elrose B Justin 18747 (PS) sell to Bettini Beef, Western Australia, for an impressive $65,000.
Bettini Beef secured four bulls on the day to average $34,250.
Tony and Kathryn Mortimer, Token Brahmans, Cotswold, Dalma, alongside Nev and Megan Hansen, Oaklands Brahmans, Kalapa, purchased the top priced heifer for the sale, paying $30,000 for Elrose Bling 18803 (PS).
The 19-month-old daughter of NCC Justified and Elrose 14944 (PS), lived up to her title on the day as she portrayed a picture of femininity and class.
Other sale highlights included a $65,000 bid for Elrose Just Right 18856 (PS) selling to Scott and Geoff Angel, Glengarry Brahmans, Kunwarara.
Andrew and Anna McCamley, 2AM Stud, Dingo, sold 2AM Hemsworth 6719 for a cracking $47,500 to John and Leanne Creedon, Leajon Park Brahmans, Middlemount.
Glen Pfeffer, Mogul Brahmans, Casino, NSW, secured Lancefield M Millionaire 6310/M for a price tag of $35,000.
The 25-month-old son of FBC Megatron Manso 345/1 was offered by stud principals Matthew and Janelle McCamley, Eulogie, Dululu.
David and Julie McCamley, Palmal stud, Dingo, sold to a top of $50,000 for Palmal Kendell 8785 (PS), purchased by Nosilla Brahmans, Broadlands Station, McKinlay.
The Palmal stud also sold Palmal Alberto 9121 (PS) to the Deguara family, Moorvale Station, Nebo, for $45,000.
David and Julie McCamley, Palmal stud, averaged a strong $16,220 for their draft of 19 bulls and six heifers.
Buying in bulk and putting together a good line-up of bulls was Condon Grazing Co, Conjuboy Station, Mt Garnet, who bought 16 bulls to average $14,906.
Strong support was also shown by return and repeat bulk buyer APN P/L, Hayfield Station, Katherine, Northern Territory, purchasing eight bulls to average $7125.
Cunningham Cattle Co, Ballaroo, Charters Towers, took home six head for an $8166 average.
