Mareeba combined agents penned 234 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Numbers reduced by 55 head on the previous week. Values improved by 50c/kg on average across the yarding. This result was achieved with much better quality across the bullocks and cows presented to the buying panel.
The yarding consisted of 60 steers averaging 236c/kg and selling to a top of 257c, 46 bulls which averaged 210c and sold to a top of 250c, 42 cows averaging 156c and selling to a top of 180c, 19 heifers averaging 153c and selling to a top of 180c. 46 yearling steers averaged 246c and sold to a top of 260.2c and 20 yearling heifers averaged 150c, selling to a top of 163c.
The usual group of local wholesale buyers, meat processors and local growers and fatteners were in attendance.
