The Bettafield Charolais with 4 Ways Charolais 14th annual bull sale was held in Emerald on Friday.
The AgGrow bull selling complex saw a strong line up of Charolais, Charbray and Senelais bulls offered by the Kajewski and Whitechurch families.
Top price was reached straight off the bat with the first of the lots entering the ring topping at $18,000.
Overall, the sale saw a total of 55 of the 66 bulls sell to gross $271,000, for an average of $5891 and a clearance of 83 per cent. Additional bulls were sold after the conclusion of the sale to see a final clearance of 86 per cent.
With invited vendors David and Lynette Whitechurch , 4 Ways Charolais, Inverell topped the sale with polled bull 4 Ways Mario selling for $18,000 to find his new home locally with the Holzwart family, Bauhinia Park Charolais, Emerald.
4 Ways Mario was intended to enter the ring slightly later on in the catalogue and caught the stands off guard as he entered as first lot for the day, catching Mr Ryan Holzwart off guard for a moment.
Mario bull, nearly 22 month-old, recorded a weight of 950 kilograms for the sale, a scrotal circumference of 40 centimetres with supplementary sheet figures showing 11 millimetres of fat on the rump, a rib of 7 millimetres with an eye muscle area of 140 centimetres squared.
Sired by Moongool Jag (AI) (P) (RF) DP2J159E and out of 4 Ways Annette D72E was described as being “beautifully balanced” and exhibits the true sire presence.

The Holzwart family were first time buyers for the Bettafield sale and said the red factor poll and good carcass is what attracted the Emerald based stud were happy to pay top dollar for the new addition. The 4 Ways Mario will be added to the sire herd at the Bauhinia Park Charolais stud program.
Second top price for the Charolais portion of the sale was on behalf of Stephen and Alison Kajewski, Bettafield Charolais for Bettafield Mustang (P). The 24 month-old bull boasted extra length and strength of spine, selling to Ernie and Kylie Camp, Floraville Station, Burketown for $10,000.
Purchasing on behalf of the Camp family was Brad Passfield, Hourn and Bishop Qld, Moura who secured 10 bulls to average $6600. Mr Passfield also went on to say 8 bulls were purchased from the Moongana Santa Gertrudis sale held September 1st and also 2 bulls from the recent Santahat Santa Gertrudis sale held in Monto. All bulls will find their new home up in the Gulf and will be used mainly over high grade Brahman cows.
Topping equally at $10,000 for the Charbray draft saw firstly Bettafield Magnum (P) another red factor bull sell again to Ernie and Kylie Camp, Floraville Station.
Again offered on behalf of the Kajewski family saw Bettafield M36 (PS)(RF) close behind hit the equally top of $10,000 selling to J and S Lloyd, Wandoan.
Both the Kajewski and Whitechurch families were pleased to again see repeat buyers in the stands, confirming the confidence in the breeding offered again in this years line up.
Volume buyers for the day also saw J and M Hyden, Rolleston secure 5 bulls to average $4400.while Echo Hills Grazing of Springsure took home 4 bulls to average $6875.
