Emerald agents yarded 2700 head on March 15, with over half the yarding made up of large consignments of heifers.
Quality was consistent throughout the yarding, with heifers realising an increase on last week’s rates, however weaner and feeder steers weren’t quite as sharp as last week taking a decrease on the average, with bullocks and cows staying firm to improving a cent or two.
In the prime section, bullocks over 550kg reached 277c to average 272c, heavy steers 500–550kg reached 278c to average 275c, heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 267c and averaged 259c.
Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 220c and averaged 216c, 450-520kg cows made to 220c to average 211c, while heavy bulls over 600kg reached 270c to average 248c.
In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400–500kg made to 299c to average 276c, while trade feeder steers 350–400kg topped at 313c and averaged 287c.
Backgrounder steers 280-350kg made to 336c and averaged 302c, weaner steers 200-280kg sold to 353c and averaged 311c, while light steers under 200kgs topped at 321c to average 310c.
Feeder heifers 350–400kg reached 272c and averaged 266c, backgrounder heifers 280-350kg topped at 301c to average 279c, while weaner heifers 200-280kg reached 306c to average 291c and heifers under 200kg topped at 305c averaging 277c.

The Sparrow family, North Tullamore, Alpha offered Droughtmaster cross heifers topping at 305c weighing 271kg to return $827, the Bettridge family, Mt Wilga, Alpha consigned Droughtmaster heifers selling to 302c weighing 252kg or $763.
The Kirby family, Wonga, Springsure sold Droughtmaster cows reaching 217c to weigh 605kg returning $1314, the Imsirovic family, Belcong, Capella offered Brangus cross heifers to 285c weighing 345kg or $984.
The Flohr family, Wotonga, Moranbah consigned a draft of Droughtmaster cross heifers with the heavier end reaching 284c weighing 300kg to return $853, with the lighter heifers making to 306c to weigh 224kg or $685.
The Leane family, Brookong, Capella offered Droughtmaster cross cows topping at 220c to weigh 597kg or $1313.
