Dan Sullivan, Sullivan Livestock Gympie, gave me the latest run-down on the Gympie district.
Dan said a late wet season has seen the majority of our area receive falls from 125mm – 220mm in the past week.
Prior to this, early 2018 rain was only storm rain being very patchy to the south and east. Storm patterns seemed to continue in a beaten track to the west of Gympie with the odd storm swinging around and wetting the northern parts of our region.
All in all we have been extremely lucky as we know recent rains didn’t make it to our western friends in severely drought affected areas.
The well-known and respected Woolooga breeder sale will be once again held on March 22 at the Woolooga Saleyards, where a very good line up of cows and calves, PTIC cows and heifers will be on offer.
Sullivan Livestock will hold their annual Woolooga weaner sale on May 31 at Woolooga Saleyards.
Dan said due to popular demand we will hold an earlier special weaner show and sale this year at the Gympie saleyards on April 27.
An outstanding yarding of local and away cattle will be yarded with a number of weaners pre-treated for ticks to benefit buyers wishing to take cattle into the clean country.
This year Sullivan Livestock will be conducting three bull sales.
Dan added their first sale will be an Angus bull sale at Goomeri Showgrounds on July 26, followed by our annual Charolais and Charbray Bull sale at the Woolooga Saleyards on July 27.
A Brahman bull sale will be held on September 8 at the Woolooga saleyards.
