AUSTRALIAN Professional Rodeo Association riders from all eastern states will compete at rodeos in New South Wales and Tasmania on Saturday.
The Wagga Pro Rodeo is at the Equex Centre in Wagga on Saturday and there will be action in all eight APRA championship events, starting at 5pm.
The bucking stock will be some of the best in Australia from Wagga contractor John P. Gill.
While Wagga is in southern NSW, the pro rodeo attracts some riders from Queensland each year.
With only one Queensland rodeo in the APRA to Easter, many Queensland competitors will travel interstate in the next two months to boost their position on the standings.
They must finish in the top 15 at the end of September to qualify for the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals at the end of October.
There will be a rodeo at Batten Park at Ulverstone in Tasmania on Saturday with action in all APRA rough stock and timed events, starting at 6pm.
Stock for the rodeo are being provided by Mick Wyllie, Brian Fish and Luke Hamilton.
After this weekend, the next three rodeos are on February 10 at Ballarat, Victoria, a Penrith Xtreme Bulls event, NSW, and Ross in Tasmania.
