Dozens of youngsters from across rural Queensland are en route to the Sunshine Coast this weekend for the 11th annual Outback to Oysters Cocktails.
The sold-out event will be held tomorrow night at Pier 33 at Mooloolaba and aims to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
Co-organiser Lucy Ziesemer said the donation to RFDS had increased every year since the event started.
“That’s thanks to a loyal following of bush men and women who make the trek to the Sunshine Coast for Australia Day every year as well as our wonderful sponsors,” she said.
As part of the evening, six brave country boys will be up for auction in the Catch Your Match Bachelor Auction.
The boys will be auctioned off with the lucky buyer receiving rights to a date.
In a cheeky twist, two of the six entrants, the Armstrong cousins from Central Queensland, are being offered in a special ‘two for one’ deal.
Here’s the line-up for 2018.

- Any talents you think a lady might like to know about? “I can rap all of Boombastic by Shaggy which is a lot harder than you think.”
- Describe your perfect hometown date. “We’d hook the boat on and slip over to the dam for a BBQ and a bit of afternoon skiing, then we’d come home and share a couple of beers/wines and a packet of Samboy BBQ chips on the verandah as the sun goes down. I’d introduce her to my grandma so she can hear how wonderful I am.”
- What breed do you run? Santa X Charolais
- How many inches? “Well there’s plenty with a lot less and you should always be thankful for what you’ve got but I wouldn’t say no to one or two more.”
