The Queensland Murray Darling Committee is currently undertaking camera monitoring research of deer in the Injune area to better establish the breed and estimate numbers.
While the quantity isn't expected to be huge, some producers have noticed small numbers of Red deer around the area for the last 15 years.
Monitoring occurred on the Bymount property of Rob Loughnan who said he often saw small mobs of eight or 10 deer.
"They are only little herds but if they ever carry exotic diseases they may become a problem," Mr Loughnan said.
"They can be all around the district at different times."
It is understood deer were bred in the area years ago and began escaping to the wild due to poor fencing control.
A Department of Agriculture and Fisheries publication in 2016 about feral Red deer stated a population between 100 and 500 had been established by translocations in the Roma, Injune and Mitchell areas.
