NEWLY elected LNP leader Deb Frecklington says she is in politics to help make people’s lives better and nothing else.
“It is not about us, it is all about you,” Mrs Frecklington said, following her elevation to party leader this afternoon.
“Queenslanders have spoken at the last two elections and as a party we must listen, regroup and rebuild faith in the LNP as the only party that can deliver for Queensland.
“I was raised in a family where you didn’t just sit back, complain and expect others to create opportunities and solve problems. You get out and do something about it.”
Mrs Frecklington (Nanango) defeated John-Paul Langbroek (Surfers Paradise) and Mark Robinson (Oodgeroo) for the position in a party room meeting this afternoon. It is understood Mrs Frecklington secured 26 votes, Mr Langbroek 10 votes and Mark Robinson three votes.

Mrs Frecklington grew up on a cattle property at Guluguba, was a boarder at Ipswich Girls Grammar School and studied business and law at university.
She said she was incredibly humbled and honoured to have been elected leader of the Liberal National Party.
“I am grateful to my colleagues for their trust and confidence,” she said.
“I am also extremely pleased that Tim Mander will be my deputy.
“As the new leadership team, we are under no illusions of the work we must do to rebuild faith with Queenslanders.
“But with the election of Tim (Mander) and I, we have pressed the reset button.”
Mrs Frecklington said under Annastacia Palaszczuk, Queensland had the second worst unemployment in the country.
“Labor can spin the figures as much as they like but until Queensland is number one it just isn’t good enough,” she said.
“I can assure Queenslanders that I take a no-frills attitude to politics and with me, what you see is what you get.
“With that in mind, I want to say just one thing to Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor – it is game on.”
The next Queensland state election is scheduled to be held on October 31, 2020.
