DETECTIVES from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) have charged a man with weapons and drug offences after executing a search warrant at an address in Mareeba on Monday morning.
Senior Constable Aleda Day said officers executed the search warrant at the address on Tinaroo Creek Road at about 10am on Monday morning and it will be alleged they located 107 cannabis seedlings as well as items used to produce the plants.
Senior Constable Day said it would be further alleged that the 61-year-old man was also in possession of several firearms including an unregistered 1917 Luger pistol and ammunition.
The man is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on December 18, charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, produce dangerous drugs, possess unregistered firearms, possess property suspected of being used in the commission of an offence, failure to store ammunition in a secured area, failure to store weapons in secure storage and fail to keep firearms unloaded when not being used.
