BEN Johnson may only be nine years old, but the little Tambo boy knows exactly what he wants.
With a stall at the Tambo Christmas Markets over the weekend, Ben was on double duty – firstly keeping and eye on his wares, but he was also on security for the evening’s event which attracted plenty of stallholders and locals in to do a bit of Christmas shopping.
Ben started woodworking about a year ago when his mum decided to teach him how to build.
Now, he’s pretty handy with a hammer and nails, but he said his favourite part about building was definitely drilling.
All of Ben’s creations are made from recycled pallets which are sourced from his dad’s trucking business, Longhorn Transport, and most of his stock is all made by himself.
Dad helps put the hinges on them and mum helps make a couple of the boxes and the handles and cut the timber.

With plenty on offer including boxes, a nifty Christmas tree, Lazy Susan’s, and even wooden books, Ben said his favourite on offer at the markets was a coffee table.
The time it takes to make everything around going school varies from days to weeks, and Ben said his parents were in charge of deciding how much to charge for everything.
While the youngster does most of the building and staining himself, he did admit his parents have to help with some things.
“Dad helps put the hinges on them and mum helps make a couple of the boxes and the handles and cut the timber,” he said.
