An opportunity for northern buyers to secure top flight Brahman genetics will present itself on Friday, November 3, at the 18th annual Gold City Brahman Sale.

A draft of 99 beefy Brahman bulls (51 Reds and 48 Greys) have been catalogued for the sale which will start from 9am at the Dalrymple Saleyards, Charters Towers.

In all, 18 vendors will offer 85 registered and 14 herd bulls during the sale, which ABBA North Queensland chairman Peter Chiesa said predominantly features polled or scurred bulls.

“Close to 60 per cent of the draft is either polled or scurred which is attractive for buyers looking to improve the poll genetics in their commercial herds,” he said.

“This years draft will provide a good run of bulls bred in the tropics for use primarily in northern operations.”

He said the ABBA sponsored sale is the only northern multi-vendor Brahman sale for Spring making it an top option for producers in the region.

“The sale offers buyers with a good selection of bulls at reasonable prices, at a venue in close proximity to where the majority of them live, which equals big savings on transport costs.

“The sale gives commercial breeders a chance to get some great bulls into their breeding programs before the early wet season, we’re all praying for, kicks in.”

Peter will offer bulls from his Ingham-based Palm Creek Brahman Stud at Gold City for the first time this year along with fellow new vendors Wayne Peston, WVP Brahmans, Mackay, and Gary Johns, Colgara Brahman Stud, Walkerston.

They will join a group of highly respected stud Brahman breeders who’re returning to the sale from as far south as Rockhampton and west to Muttaburra.

“There will of course be another strong contingent of northern vendors, many of whom have supported the sale through thick and thin, for over a decade.”

The sale bulls will be ready for inspection by 4pm on Thursday, November 2, with the Beers with the Bulls meet and greet to follow from 5.30pm.

The sale catalogue is online at brahman.com.au with hard copies also now available through sale agents Landmark and Elders.
