Falls of up to 200mm have lashed the Bundaberg region today, causing flash flooding across low lying parts of the town.
Residents have been warned to be vigilant and many have taken to Facebook to share videos and photos of flooding around the district.
At 4pm on Monday afternoon the Queensland Police Service has issued a warning that there is localised flooding in low lying areas and large amounts of surface water on all roads.
For beef cattle stud breeders, Peter and Sonia Fleming, Bundy Droughtmasters who live 20km to the north towards Gin Gin, the rain is a godsend.
Mrs Fleming said it had been very trying with no rain recorded for the past 66 days, until today when their son Jamin measured 180mm.
“This rain will set us up for summer,” Mrs Fleming said.
Jamin, who has been out checking the property, said the main road into their property had just been closed due to flooding by the State Emergency Service.
“There has been some damage with erosion due to floodwater and all the dams are full and by-washing, but the rain has been good,” he said.
