FARMERS can now precision spread granular fertiliser as well as soil ameliorates with a single trailed machine courtesy of Kuhn.

Kuhn fertiliser and technology manager, Vincent Gerard, said the Axent 100.1 is the first trailed spreader on the market capable of both, due to it’s unique dual modular design.

The standard module is the Axis powerpack, which is capable of precision spreading granular fertiliser or seed between 18 and 50 metres, he said.

Mr Gerard said the hydraulically driven dual disc spreader uses patented electronic mass-flow control (EMC) technology to allow precision application rate control on either side of the spreader.

Mr Gerard said a metering outlet is positioned to correct every second, according to the torque measured on each spreading disc.

“It acts as a flow metre sensor on each disc separately” he said.

“For example if we on one side we want to apply 80kg and the other 120kg every second the EMC controls and manages the outlet.”

Mr Gerard said this would prevent clogging as the EMC detects and corrects flow variations instantly.

“If you have a blockage or the quality of the fertiliser changes due to moisture, the flow will be adjusted automatically,” he said.

Variable rate spreading is fully GPS integrated on the Axent 100.1 said Mr Gerard.

The second optional power pack allows spreading of soil ameliorates and unrefined bulk such as lime, gypsum and manure through heavier spreading discs.

“The lime power pack is capable of spreading up to several tonnes of material,” he said.

“The goal was to have a versatile machine,

“Farmers want to spread different products to suit their crop needs, without having to buy a different machine.”
