A total of 205 lots will go under the hammer during the 41st annual ABCA Rockhampton Brangus Sale being held at CQLX Gracemere on Monday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 10.
ABCA committee member Edward Quinn said 32 of the most highly regarded Brangus stud breeders in the nation will offer their best drafts for the year at the sale.
“There are two ABCA sponsored sales each year, with Rocky being the largest, and we ensure the lots tick all the boxes in relation to the Brangus Standard of Excellence criteria,” he said.
“We keep these standards in mind with the cattle nominated for the sale, so we are always offering a catalogue of exceptional quality to suit all buyers and budgets.”
He said the sale has historically produced good results for the stronger lines, and with buyers from Qld, the Northern Territory and NSW, expected for the sale, he has high hopes that spirited bidding will ensue again.
The sale action will start on the Monday with a selection of 45 registered females and seven embryo packages being offered. A semen auction will also be held during the first day of the sale, with the proceeds going to the ABCA to help with preparations for Beef Australia next year.
Edward said the Meet and Greet being held from 7.30pm on the Monday at the Gracemere Hotel will again be combined with the Elders Legacy of Ladies Sale, which proved to be a winning combination last year.
“We had close to 150 people there, and the Gracemere Hotel really gets behind it.
“The night provides a great opportunity for buyers, vendors and others to discuss the results of the first day and bid on the six elite heifers selected for this years sale.”
Selling will continue the following morning with 147 bulls (136 registered and 11 herd) including two used bulls being offered.
He said the AuctionsPlus online bidding platform will again be available after making its debut last year, with the sales proceeding to be livestreamed in its entirety.
Edward said the online catalogue is available on the Brangus Society website www.brangus.com.au and hard copies are in the post and are available from sale agents Elders, SBB and Ray White Livestock.
