There was a lift in supply at this week’s Dalby sale, with 5328 cattle yarded. Export buyer attendance was not as good as the previous sale, however a fair panel of feeder buyers was present.

Most classes sold to a cheaper trend. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed lost 20c and yearling heifers were cheaper by 6c to 20c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks went against this trend to remain close to the levels of the previous sale.

Cows experienced a mixed trend with plain condition lines receiving little change in price, however the better end of the cows lost 10c to 14c.

Yearling steers to feed in the 330-400kg range sold from 270c to 302.2c and averaged 283.5c. Medium weight yearling heifers made from 242.2c to 268.2c to average 255.2c.

Heavy grown steers averaged 268.6c and grown heifers to 540kg sold from 223.2c to 240.2c and averaged 233.7c. Cows in the 400-520kg range sold from 180c to 204.2c, back 5c to average 197.6c. Heavy weights bulls made to 278.2c.
