A mixed quality yarding of 1275 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie sale where the market showed signs of improvement throughout particularly meatworks cattle, and better quality lines of heavy feeder and weaners. Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Aramara, Woolooga, Miva, Nambour, Maleny, Conondale, Kenilworth and all local areas.
Heavy feeder steers from John and Liz Allen, Nambour made $2.86 ($1323). Santa x steers from Doug Sallaway sold for $2.89 ($1252). Quality Charbray steers from J&C Rayner, Goomborian sold for $2.97 ($1232). Charbray steers from Graham Blowers, Munna Creek made $2.93 ($1183) while their Droughtmaster brothers sold for $2.81 ($1136). Charbray steers from the Nugent Family, Woolooga sold for $3.01 ($1110).
Charbray steers from David Ross, Munna Creek made $3.04 ($920 & $917). Charbray weaner steers from Ted Fisher, Widgee made $3.19 ($791). Charbray cross steers from Peter and Kay Gerrard made $3.23 ($759) and $3.27 ($764). Droughtmaster steers from Chris Black, Bells Bridge sold for $3.29 ($882). Fitzgerald & Co sold Droughtmaster steers for $3.55 ($848) and $3.25 ($861) and $3.35 ($784). Droughtmaster steers from David and Elizabeth Allomes, Miva Homestead sold for $3.29. Brangus steers from The Dowling Family, Gunalda made $3.43 ($856). Generally better quality weaner steers sold from $3.05 to $3.55.
No quality feeder heifers were yarded. Weaner heifers sold to a top of $3/kg, while good conditioned weaner heifers sold from $2.50 to $2.71 to processors.
