Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 769 head of mixed quality cattle at this week’s Prime and Store Sale.
Two export buyers, three lotfeeders and two local processors attended. Prices were back on last week’s sale. Butchers cattle were limited in supply, with the yarding mainly comprised of meatworks cows, slaughter bulls and a small number of store steers and heifers. Cattle were drawn from Chillagoe, Peninsula, Lakeland, Tableland and coastal areas.
Butchers steers reached 250.2c/kg, butchers heifers made 222.2c, wholesale cows sold to 213.2c, export slaughter ox made 232.2c, export slaughter cows reached 216.2c and export slaughter bulls made 218.2c.
Store steers reached 282.2c, store heifers made 266.2c and store bulls sold to 257.2c. Cows and calves sold to $1540/unit.
