The annual Breakfast Creek Hotel bus tour to the Nolan Meats’ Gympie Muster Cup was held on Saturday August 19 and the Brekky Creek tour proved to be a winning day out for all.
The annual bus tour is a favourite inclusion in the Brekky Creek calendar, giving the Brekky Creek an opportunity to treat their regular city patrons with a fun day out in the country and in turn give back to long-term supplier of the hotel, Nolan’s Meats.
From all accounts the annual bus trek to Gympie was a great day out enjoyed by all. Guests were hosted in a VIP marquee at the race meet by Tony and Michael Nolan from Nolan’s Meat’s and dined on a delicious selection of Nolan’s prime beef.
Guests included Paul Alroe and Dave Purshouse from the Brisbane Markets, Tony Perrett MP for Gympie, City Beat editor from the Courier Mail Anthony Marx, David James from Tangalooma Island Resort, Stan Napa, father of Sydney Roosters forward and QLD origin star Dylan Napa, former Brisbane Broncos and NSW origin legend Chris Johns, who played DJ in the bus on the return trip, Michael Brooks, Wolfgang Kasper and, of course, yours truly.
The Breakfast Creek Hotel has forged a strong relationship with Nolan’s Meats since the introduction of the original Nolan’s T-Bone in 1968. More recently the Nolan’s relationship secured the winning bid at the 140th Royal Queensland Show’s cattle auctions as Terry Nolan on behalf of the hotel battled aggressive bidding from the crowd to secure the Grand Champion Led Steer and Middle Weight Champion.
The Champion Steers will be showcased by the Brekky Creek at their annual Led Steer Charity Luncheon in the Spanish Garden Steakhouse on September 21, proudly supporting QHA Hotel Care’s Initiative fundraising for Prostate Cancer Research for the PA Research Foundation.
Special thanks must go out to my mate Sam Gullo, venue manager of the Breakfast Creek Hotel for once again organising a wonderful tour and choosing a great group of people to share this race day with. Always great to spend the day with you Sam.
