CHAROLAIS bulls were in demand selling to $13,500 to average $4655 at the Lilydale Invitational Bull Sale at Toogoolawah on Saturday.
Sale topper was the full French sire Bird Hill Lazarus, a 24 month old offered by Janice and Jim Spreadborough, West Blenheim, that was bought by Kilkenny Charolais. Lazarus weighed 980kg had an impressive 148sq cm eye muscle area, a 10mm P8, 7mm of rib fat and a 37 scrotal measurement.
Second topped price at $9500 was Bird Hill Luna which sold to Gemeast, Ivory’s Creek. The 23 month old had 147sq cm EMA and 38 scrotal. RNJ’s Lecter sold for $7500 to Gilla Partnership, Blackbutt. The full French sire had a 150sq cm EMA and a 41cm scrotal. Greg Lee paid $7000 for RNJ’s Loaded, a 22 month old with a 133sq cm EMA.
Peter and Fran Eggleston paid $6500 for Bird Hill Lariat, a well muscled 20 month old. Lariat had a 144sq cm EMA and a 41 scrotal. The Egglestons also bought RNJ’s Lift Off for $5500 offered by Janelle and Rod Freeman, RNJ's Charolais, Rosewood.
Bird Hill Lindsay (P) sold for $5000 to Ken Jackson. Repeat buyer Michael Conroy bought Bird Hill Lester (P) for $4500. Warren Drynan, Beaudesert, paid $4500 for the 23 month old RNJ’s Lethal.
At 153sq cm, Trevlac Laser had the largest EMA of the sale. The 29 month old offered by Mel and Lyn Freeman, Rosevale, sold for $4000 to Ian and Jillian Belz, Cressbrook. The Belzs also paid $3500 for Trevlac Lanza with a 142sq cm EMA.
The 22 month old poll Lilydale Lieutenant offered by Ross Stricklen, Helidon, sold for $4000 to Rodney Cahill, Beaudesert. Volume buyer for five bulls for a $3400 average was Richard and Alison Siddons, Goondiwindi. The selection will be put to work in a cow herd based at Beaudesert.
