THE 1270 hectare (3138 acre) Gums-Condamine district property Bentley sold under the hammer for $2.4 million at a Landmark Harcourts auction in the Chinchilla RSL on July 20.
Marketing agent Ross Murray, Landmark Chinchilla and Dalby, said a crowd of more than 40 people were in the auction room, with nine registered bidders competing for the property. More than 20 inspections were carried out during the advertising period, he said.
Bidding opened at $1.6m and quickly progressed to $2.2m with five interested parties operating. Following consultation with the owner John Rennick, the auction reopened and progressed to $2.4m was knocked down to a local grazier with a cattle enterprise between Chinchilla and Miles.
The sale price is equivalent to about $1890/ha ($765/acre).
