Westech Field Days in partnership with the Remote Area Planning Development Board (RAPAD) will be offering a scholarship as part of the Westech Field Days in September.
This is the second time RAPAD and Westech Field Days have worked together to provide the scholarship opportunity which is now worth $6000.
“The Westech Field Days Committee appreciates the opportunity to continue to deliver the scholarship in collaboration with RAPAD in 2017,” Westech president Andrew Cowper said.
The selection process requires applicants to promote how they participate and contribute to rural industry or activities in a rural community.
Scholarship coordinator, Liz Lynch said academic achievements, while important, were not the key focus of the selection process.
“We aim to provide the young people who apply with an experience similar to that they may be faced with when applying for employment,” she said.
“They will be required to submit a written application to a panel of three judges who will have the challenge of shortlisting the applications before interviews are offered.”
Applications are welcomed from residents who have a permanent address in the council areas of Barcaldine, Blackall – Tambo, Longreach, Boulia, Diamantina, Barcoo or Winton shires and are aged between 16 -21 years (inclusive).
The scholarship is able to be used to assist with the costs associated with accessing accredited training, secondary or tertiary education (travel, accommodation, study materials or course fees).
The successful applicant/s will be announced at Westech Field Days to be held on September 12 and 13 at the Barcaldine Showgrounds
