DETECTIVES from Major and Organised Crime Squad Rural executing a search warrant say they have located unregistered weapons, explosives and dangerous drugs on a rural property in Daybreak Road, Tara.
Police from Toowoomba, Kingaroy and Roma will allege that during the search of the Daybreak Road property police located and seized evidence that had been used in the production of cannabis.
Police seized dried cannabis plants, packaged cannabis, cannabis seeds and located large 200-litre storage drums that had been used to conceal cannabis in the ground on the property.
Police also located multiple six inch PVC cylinders that had also been used to bury and preserve illegal long arm rifles in the ground.
During a systematic search of the 12 hectare rural property police located multiple harvested cannabis crop sites and located in excess of 4000 full metal jacket SKS and AK-47 rounds.
A 70-year old-male was arrested and charged with possessing and producing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils, possessing unregistered and unsecured firearms and possessing a significant quantity of explosives. He is to appear in the Dalby Magistrates Court on August 15.
Deployments between July 12 to July 14 saw the execution of a further five search warrants at addresses in Tara, Condamine, Miles and Wandoan.
As a result police charged five persons on 22 charges.
Three male offenders and one female were charged with an assortment of drug and Weapons Act charges and are set to appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court on August 3.
Detective Sergeant Mark Ferling of MOCS Rural said these operations were designed to keep the community safe from illegal substances and weapons.
“These types of operations in regional communities are a key focus of the squad, once again instinctive search techniques have removed more illegal firearms and ammunition from the hands of criminals,” Detective Sergeant Ferling said.
