There were 575 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. All regular buyers were in attendance, along with several local buyers looking to restock, which saw the market sell from firm to dearer for all descriptions.
Kevin Weigel, Summerholme, sold an Angus bull for $2950 and 10 month old steers for $1065. Greg Nicholson, Junction View, sold medium Charbray cows for $1300-$1320. Dale Jones, Lowood, sold a line of Droughtmaster cows for $1200.
Ken Maguire, Ingoldsby, sold lines of Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1600. Steve Clark, Stockyard, sold a line of Charbray cows and calves for $1640. Des Poole, Veradailla, sold 12-14 month old Limousin steers for $1150 and heifers for $1000. Scott and Teresa Humphreys, Haigslea, sold milk tooth Santa heifers for $1175.
Jon Goetz, Laidley, sold a Hereford bull for $1845. Graham Millard, Mulgowie, sold Droughtmaster steers for $1630. Fleur Adams, Mulgowie, sold 8 month old Santa cross steers for $980 and heifers for $810. Hoger Brothers, Ropeley, sold 6 month old Charolais cross steer calves for $870 and heifers for $900.
Robin Beard, Lowood, sold 10 month old Charolais steers for $1010-$1125. Grantley Burchmann, Ropeley, sold 8 month old Charolais cross steers for $960.
