Mix 15 millimetres of rain with black soil and you get a lot of mud.
Saturday's storms were good news for the Maranoa farmers and graziers lucky to be drenched but it was a different story for the 24 adult and five junior teams taking part in the annual polocrosse carnival at Roma.
While the action was fast and furious on the field, it was just as powerful in the sky to the south where a cloud sat gathering water.
Everyone was hoping it would dump its load south of Roma but it wasn’t to be.
Club secretary Maree Mitchell said the carnival was washed out when they had to stop play on Saturday afternoon.
The washout comes on top of Roma’s carnival being cancelled due to rain in 2016.
“We had a good night at the bar instead,” Maree said.
