An overcast morning in Emerald did not dampen the enthusiasm for cattlemen chasing Simmental genetics on day two of AgGrow.
Overall the day resulted in 127 bulls offered with 115 sold for a 91 per cent clearance, and an average of $5,796.
Angus and Angus/cross had a 92 per cent clearance and $6,000 average with a top of $13,000.
Red Angus averaged $3,692 with a 93 per cent clearance to top at $7,000.
Murray Greys had a 89 per cent clearance to average $4,064 and topped at $6,500.
Charolais cleared their run 100 per cent and topped at $10,500 for an $6,194 average.
Simmentals stole the limelight with a average of $7,386 to top at $17,000 with a 96 per cent clearance.
Charbrays sold four to average $3,875 and a topped at $6,500.
Romagnolas had a 100 per cent clearance with a top of $6,000 and an average of $3,000.
Top price bull Blue Dog Longbeach L031 offered by Jan and Doug Bradshaw, Blue Dog Simmentals, Taroom, found a new home at Tom and Lizzie Baker’s Woonallee Simmentals, Furner, South Australia.
The highly sought-after bull was sired by Woonallee Justified out of a first calf heifer of the Blue Dog Stud and assisted the Simmental average being up $1200 to last year’s results.
The Bradshaw family had a very successful day selling the second top price bull for $13,000 who went to Warren and Sue Wilson, Wilson Grazing, Redbank, Mitchell.
Equal second top price went to a Black Angus from Rio Preto Angus, owned by the Johncock family and sold to Richard Appleton and family, Appleton Cattle Co, Alpha also for $13,000.
A red factor Charolais bull took out the third top stakes from Ian and Katrina Bebbington’s Mountview Charolais, Cambooya purchased by John and Vikki Hartley, Kinka, Injune for $10,500.
