ONE Moura State High School teacher has headed back to class this week, as an attendee at the ABBA Rockhampton Junior Beef Show.
Jordan Danziger is a HPE and science teacher at the school, but has recently begun helping with the school’s cattle club – despite having no previous knowledge about cattle.
He said attending Junior Beef Show alongside many of his students was a very valuable experience.
“I’m here to basically upskill myself so I can help the students,” he said.
“They’re teaching me at the moment.”
Originally from Bundaberg, Mr Danziger comes from a cane farming background.
“We did nothing to do with cattle at all so it’s a very, very big learning curve for myself learning how cattle work, and just being with them and working with them,” he said.
“I’ve learned a lot of things, so mostly what I should be looking for when judging them and how to parade them.
“We also did a tour at the meatworks, which was really eye-opening and a great opportunity.”
Mr Danziger has been in Moura teaching for two years, and said attending Junior Beef Week has been invaluable.
“It’s been really, really good – because the kids have been teaching me; they feel really great that they can give me their knowledge which I don’t have, so they feel as though they’re teaching the teacher,” he said.
“My students know how eager I am to learn, so that enthusiasm goes back to them because they’re excited as well.”
