Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 760 head at this week’s Prime and Store Cattle Sale. One major export processor, three local processors, one central and two southern Queensland re-stockers and a small gallery of local buyers were in attendance.
Butchers steers were hard to find and butchers heifers were also scarce. Wholesale cows improved in value and realised a gain of 7c/kg on the previous week. Export ox showed a substantial rise up 23c on last week.
Export cows improved by 15c on the previous week and export bulls improved by 6c on the best of last week. Good quality store steers remained firm in value and sold consistently from 270 – 310c.
Good quality store heifers sold well between 240 – 250c but lesser quality and plain types are not generating a lot of competition. Good quality store males are still attracting the attention of buyers looking to promote these types onto the live export feeder market.
