There was a yarding of 442 head at Laidley, where the market was firm for all types.

With a wet week leading up to Thursday’s sale, a lighter yarding of 442 head were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market remained firm for all types, with western buyers once again prominent.

Jackwitz family, Lowood, sold Charbray cows and calves for $1700-$1910 and 5 month old Charolais cross calves, with steers making $760 and heifers $720. David Dance, Clarendon, sold Hereford cows for $1330.  Viewlands Farm, Junction View, sold Charbray cows for $1460.

Des and Carol Knopke, Lowood, sold lines of Droughtmaster steers, with 2 tooth steers making $1405 and 4 tooth steers selling for $1400. Albert Avramov, Lowood, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $1700. Langara Holdings, Mulgowie, sold 20 month old Hereford steers for $1370. Sharron Lucas, Thornton, sold 15 month old Charolais steers for $1280.

John and Fay Morcan, Calvert, sold 8 month old Charolais cross steers for $940 and Brahman cross heifers for $995. Colin Hughes, Adare, sold 2 tooth Murray Grey steers for $1160-$1400. Richard Fuller and Toni Williamson, Haden, sold 10-12 month old Blonde cross steers for $1180 and heifers for $1080-$1125. Robert King and Leonie Gaviloi, Tarome, sold a line of 10-12 month old store steers for $1055.

Carpendale P/L sold lines of Charbray steers, 10 months, for $1020 and heifers, 12 months, for $1080. Peter and Lyn Vogler, Egypt, sold a line of 8 month old Charbray steers for $920. Bruce & Karen Peel, Laidley, sold 7-8 month old Droughtmaster steers for $885-$960. John McLaughlin, Grandchester, sold Charolais weaner heifers for $780-$905. Jones Boys, Glamorganvale, sold Santa weaner heifers for $880. Peter and Elaine Horrocks, Mt Whitestone, sold Hereford cross cows and calves for $1440.
