With a wet week leading up to Thursday’s sale, a lighter yarding of 442 head were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market remained firm for all types, with western buyers once again prominent.
Jackwitz family, Lowood, sold Charbray cows and calves for $1700-$1910 and 5 month old Charolais cross calves, with steers making $760 and heifers $720. David Dance, Clarendon, sold Hereford cows for $1330. Viewlands Farm, Junction View, sold Charbray cows for $1460.
Des and Carol Knopke, Lowood, sold lines of Droughtmaster steers, with 2 tooth steers making $1405 and 4 tooth steers selling for $1400. Albert Avramov, Lowood, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $1700. Langara Holdings, Mulgowie, sold 20 month old Hereford steers for $1370. Sharron Lucas, Thornton, sold 15 month old Charolais steers for $1280.
