RAGLAN Mr Mason has made quite a name of himself on the Central Queensland Show Circuit, with three interbreed champion wins so far.
Monto and Marlborough Shows were Mr Mason’s first conquers, with the latest last week at Rockhampton Show.
Raglan Brahmans’ Aimee Olive said Mr Mason’s next show will be at the Ekka.
“He’s just well boned, big structured bull with plenty of muscle and a good head,” she said.
“He’ll be kept for in-herd use.
“He’s by Raglan Mac which is a home bred bull, and out of one of our own-bred cows.”
Raglan had a very successful day at Rockhampton, with a string of wins.
“We had a brilliant day, we got two reserves, two champions, two grands, and one supreme - you can’t beat that,” Ms Olive said.
In the females it was Steve Hayward’s K5X Lois J40 who took out the interbreed.
The Angus cow won the grand champion female in Brisbane as a two-year-old, and was interbreed champion in Toowoomba last year.
Mr Hayward said her win at Rockhampton this year was a “good retirement”.
”Her mother was probably one of our best cows and she’s been great breeder,” he said.
“We sold her first bull calf for $40,000 last year and she’s got a (bull) calf on her this time that we’re going to keep for our own herd.”
He said after not coming to the Rockhampton Show for six years, he was impressed with the quality.
“It’s good to come to Rockhampton and compete with other breeds, and just to come to the north where we’d like to sell some bulls,” he said.
