IF you thought being Queensland Miss Showgirl was as easy as wearing a sash and a nice hat, think again.
This year’s Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl, Kait Shultz from the Gold Coast is nearing the end of her time in the role and has so far travelled 10,000 kilometres to attend shows across the state.
Ms Shultz expects to have attended 40 shows by the time she hands over her crown at the Ekka later this year.
The university student, who also works as a teacher’s aid in Mudgeeraba, is a keen poultry exhibitor and has even been invited to judge at shows in conjunction with her Miss Showgirl duties.
While her time with the sash may be coming to an end, Ms Shultz said it was just the start of her involvement with Queensland Agricultural Shows.
“I don’t think you are ready for it to end,” she said.
“I might not have a sash but my show work won’t stop.”
