A $37,000 prize pool and perfect Autumn race weather ensured this year’s annual Jandowae Race meeting was a success on the weekend.
Race Secretary and well-known local, Ms Lesley Gooderham, said all the ingredients were right for a magical day.
“Our community was well supported this year, not only by sponsors but also by patrons,” Ms Gooderham said.
“The race day is an important event for our area and to see so many people come along and enjoy the festivities, whether in the marquee with a wonderful menu or relaxing in the grandstand with family and friends,” she said.
“It allows people a reason to dress up, to catch up and talk to neighbours and visitors and have a good day out.”
Ms Gooderham said the crowd numbers were up, as were the entrants in the well-prized fashions on the field event.
“So many people invested time and care into their appearance this year and the effort showed on the day with tough competition in all categories for fashion on the field,” she said.
Ms Gooderham thanked all the sponsors for their generosity.
