A high quality yarding of 717 head saw several new buyers operating at the Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market was strong for all types, with weaner steers and younger cattle in high demand.
Wanpela Samting, Mt Whitestone, sold Red Brahman cows, with a line of seven cows making $2000 and several lines selling for $1500-$1530. Bischoff Family Trust, Buaraba, sold Santa cows and calves for $2000. Marlene Christianson, Thornton, sold 24 month old Euro steers for $1500-$1710, Charbray cows for $1340 and milk tooth heifers for $1375.
John Sutton, Fordsdale, sold Charolais cows for $1235. Andrew Lever, Forest Hill, sold a line of 51 milk tooth heifers, with the lead pens making $1395-$1400, to return an average of $1260 and lines of 20 month old steers for $1500.
Robin Goltz, Caffey, sold milk tooth Charolais heifers for $1200 and steers for $1160. Tony Kirkwood, Townson, sold 20 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1435. Casey Jackson, Thornlands, sold an Angus bull for $1780, steer for $1380 and weaner steers for $1130.
