THE quality of offering of more than 5300 mostly Charolais infused young cattle were in strong demand at Shepherdson and Boyd’s annual weaner sale in Toogoolawah today.
Buyers and vendors agreed the sale was as strong as ever with prices for the quality lines of steers. Plenty of heavier steers were in the 380c-400c/kg range while lighter weighs were well into the 400c levels.
The champion pen of steers was from Lyndhurst, Crows Nest. The eight month olds were by Charolais bulls out of F1 Brahman/Hereford-cross pen and sold for $1150.
The champion pen of heifers was from Dick and Cate Buckham, Callemondah, Tarome. The six month olds were bred by Palgrove bulls over Droughtmaster cows.
