The positives from Cyclone Debbie - green grass and a flowing Suttor River - made the annual Pasha Easter Horse Trek even more enjoyable for the 86 neighbours, friends and family who joined in the event this year.
Now in its tenth year, participants revelled in a catch-up and sumptuous morning tea in John and Lyndy Heelan’s garden, 130km north east of Clermont, before saddling their horses for 12km ride to the river.
Forty-six riders, aged three to 53, completed the trek and then joined the rest of the revellers enjoying picnic lunches, swimming, canoeing, riding horses in the river, and of course the easter egg hunt.
Organiser, Margot Fordyce, Mabbin, said the original idea for the trek came about as a way to get all the kids together again when they came home from their various boarding schools.
"However, it’s now grown to include the wider local community and has become an event that everyone looks forward,” Ms Fordyce said.
“It’s getting bigger each year.”
