Numbers more than doubled the previous week’s level, with a yarding of 6824 at Dalby this week.
It was also the largest number yarded in five months, included in the line-up were some consignments from Burke in NSW. Buyer attendance was good and included some additional support from interstate on the heavy grown steers and bullock portion as well as the feeder classes.
At the time of this interim report most of the feeder cattle had experienced very little change in price. The younger end of the heavy grown steers and bullocks remain firm, however the older categories were cheaper.
Cows experienced a mixed trend with plain condition lines unchanged in price while the better cows lost 6c to 11c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed made from 326.2c to 356.2c and averaged 344c, while medium weight yearling heifers averaged 326.9c. Heavy weight yearling heifers made from 275c to 282c and averaged 277.2c.
Heavy weight grown steers sold from 275.2c to 313.2c to average 288.3c with grown heifers averaging 277.3c. Heavy weight cows sold from 234.2c to 260c and averaged 241.5c. The best bull made 333.2c.
