Quality Euro-cross weaner cattle helped lift values at the Toogoolawah store cattle sale.

THE start of the run of quality Euro-cross weaner cattle helped lift values at the 1290 head Toogoolawah store cattle sale on Friday.

Graham and Judith McPherson sold growthy Charbray weaners for $1170, $1135 and $1070. Ross Tinney sold Droughtmaster calves for $1005. Ben Hardy’s Charbray well grown calves sold for $1050. B&J Farms had Charbray Droughtmaster-cross calves for $900. Natasha Weaver sold Droughtmaster steer calves for $875. M&S Francis sold Charolais Santa-cross calves for $900 and $865. 

Gaylene Belz sold an outstanding draft of Charbray steer big weaners for $1205, $1105 and $980. Ron Dunning sold Charolais steer calves for $1050.  Stanley House Grazing Co had Charbray 0 and 2 tooth steers for $1665 and $1520. Jamie Josey sold Santa-cross steers 20 months for $1415. Wade and Megan Stretton sold a great pen of Charolais-cross steers 20 months for $1420. G&J Roosen sold Droughtmaster steers 20 months for $1275. Wendy Callinan sold Santa-cross steers 18 months for $1250 and $1165.

Tracey Siedofsky sold Charolais-cross steers 12-14 months for $1205. Quayle Cattle Co sold Droughtmaster steers 14 months for $1150. Tones Partners of Kilcoy sold Droughtmaster steers 16 months for $1245. Triple P Pastoral sold Droughtmaster steers 14 months for $1230. B King sold Droughtmaster steers 18 months for $1205. 

George Pratten sold Brangus steer calves for $870. Jenny Williams sold Droughtmaster steer calves for $850. Leon Vogler’s calves realised $785. Darren and Trent Pratten sold Charolais steers calves for $905 and $895. Dudley and Sharon Gunthorpe sold Shorthorn/Simmental-cross steer calves for $830.

Outstanding lines of heifers suitable as replacement breeders met solid competition. G&J Roosen sold Charbray heifers 18 months for $1300. John and Sharon Cruickshank, Eidsvold, sold a top line of 160 No.6 Santa heifers for $1240, $1175, $1140 with the younger 14 months heifers for $925 to $1020.  Gavin Carr, Mundubbera, sold a top line of 30 Droughtmaster heifers 14-16 months for $1100. The McPherson weaner Charolais-cross heifers sold for $990, $950 and $865. 

Tom and Maree Copley sold two decks of Brahman-cross cull heifers for $820, $830 and $750. Michael Baker sold Angus-cross heifers 20 months for $1060.  C&A Artiemiew sold Euro-cross heifers 12 months for $840 and $875. B&J Farms sold Charolais-cross weaner heifers for $870 and $820. Gaylene Belz sold Charolais-cross heifers for $930, $900 and $870. Darren and Trent Pratten sold Charolais-cross heifer calves for $775 and $760. I&D Williams sold Droughtmaster heifer calves for $785. 

PTIC cows were in strong demand with PTIC Charolais cows from T Siedofsky selling for $1300 and $1150. Droughtmaster PTIC cows sold for $1420. Ochkit sold Brahman-cross cows PTIC for $1100 and empty cows for $1040. Michael Baker sold Angus-cross heifers PTIC for $1190 and Hereford PTIC heifers for $1,060. 

A top line of Droughtmaster cows and calves sold by D&K Perry from their Kilcoy property realised $1900. Charolais-cross cows and calves sold for $1630. Shorthorn-cross cows and calves sold for $1270 and Michael Baker’s Angus-cross cows and calves sold for $1370.

The annual Toogoolawah weaner sale is on May 12. Some 5500 calves will be offered.
