Electric fencing, Kalahari Red goats and erosion control will be the subject of a field day being run by South West NRM at Allambie, south of Cooladdi on the Paroo River, on Wednesday, May 3.
Beginning at 9.30am, the day will be an opportunity to look over the fence at the small animal grazing enterprise running sheep and goats.
The property is a member of the Upper Paroo Sustainable Production Group and has been working on issues such as using goats for vegetation control, electric fencing for pest control and ways of managing erosion.
The bonus on the day will be getting a look at Allambies new Kalahari Red stud program, and having Julie Petty from MLA on hand to discuss all things goat.
If time permits, the field day will inspect the results of mother of millions control.
Most importantly, we will have some good open discussion to share ideas so come along and be involved, SW NRMs Darren Jennings said.
The property is around two hours from Charleville, and directions can be received upon RSVPing with Darren, who is the regional Landcare facilitator, at darren.jennings@swnrm.org.au or by phoning the office on 4656 8500.
Numbers are limited for logistical purposes.
