Great entertainment, exquisite livestock and more treats, showbags and rides than you can poke a stick at, will attract visitors of all ages to the Roma Show at Bassett Park on May 12-13.
Roma Show Society president Puddy Chandler will be experiencing this years show for the first time in the role and hopes the enhanced focus on family entertainment will provide a boost to local attendance figures.
“We’ve placed a lot of emphasis on providing a wider range of events and attractions this year in the hopes of enticing more local families to attend,” Ms Chandler said.
“It’s going to be a fun show that all families can enjoy, hopefully everyone gets something out it as there will definitely be plenty for everyone to do, and see,” she said.

Other highlights will include the First Light circus entertainment, the Professor Wallace Puppet theatre, Scottish dancers, fashion parades, and a spectacular family fireworks display on Saturday evening.
A large schedule of traditional agricultural competitions will also be held during the event, with horse sports, cattle judging, sheep dog trials taking place, along with poultry, farm and garden, art, cooking and photography competitions just to name a few.
The Maranoa Men’s Breakfast being held on Friday morning is set to be a corker, with Cunnamulla bush boy Allan Cooney to share his exploits with the crowd.
Mr Cooney will fascinate and inspire you as he takes you on his journey which has seen him wear many hats across his incredible career which he began as a jackaroo, followed by roles as varied as professional footballer, stud master, movie extra, sheep breeder, stage actor, pilot, share trader to his more recent accomplishments which include being an Antarctic station leader and his current position as CEO of stock and station agency TopX Australia.
Showgoers can also relax at the Machinery Bar and Main Bar while enjoying a cold drink with friends and family and singing along to the live music provided by The Shot Foxes on Friday night and Laura Lavelle on Saturday night.
Ms Chandler said the Miss Showgirl will return this year as a feature event.
“The Roma Show Society is looking for ladies between the ages of 18 and 28 to enter in the competition.
“It’s set to be great fun as the girls come together for a meet and greet prior to the judging with the winner to be announced just before the show is officially opened at 1pm on Friday afternoon.”

Another highlight will be the The Young Farmer Challenge which will involve four mates completing an obstacle course where teams must conquer a number of problem solving tasks designed around agricultural and farming skills.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase the skill and know-how of our communities younger generation.”
