Showgoers can look forward to a kaleidoscope of family fun and entertainment at this years’ 82nd annual Callide Valley Show being held at the Biloela Showgrounds on May 19-20.
Callide Valley Agricultural and Pastoral Society president Tanya Belousoff said in many ways the show is a fun, educational tool.
“It teaches confirmation and presentation as well as sportsmanship, and importantly it’s an event where we can showcase our country values,” Ms Belousoff said.
The festivities will include stud and trade cattle displays and judging, showjumping events and a poultry competition. Other traditional events include a woodchop competition, ute muster, show girl competition and rural ambassador judging.
Food enthusiasts can admire the cooking and cake decorating displays, while the craft fans can inspect the artistic creations being exhibited. Displays for produce, horticulture, photography and school work will also be on show across both days.
Youngsters will get a kick out of the animal nursery where they can feed and pat baby farm animals, and be sure to check out the Lumberjack Show, Yamaha Supertank (Travelling Fish Tank), Kangagang children's entertainment, Little Aussie Encounters and the Banana Shire Council Dog High Jump competition.
Make sure you are ringside to behold all the spectacular bumps and bangs of the Crash-A-Rama on Saturday which proved to be a huge hit with visitors last year.
Event coordinator John Shepherd hopes it will be as successful as last years event when the 20 cars sourced from Linemac Motors were pulled apart and sold in an auction to many generous local businesses.
“The proceeds from the auction, which amounted to $21,500 was all donated to charity, which is the best thing about the event,” he said.
Mr Shepherd said the cars for this years show will be sold at auction on the afternoon of Friday, May 5 at Linemac Motors.
Motorcycle night will rev up the crowd on Friday evening at 6pm and all the thrills and spills of the rodeo will take place on Saturday from 5.30pm followed by the crowd favourite fireworks display from 7pm which will wrap-up the festivities.
