POLICE are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a large amount of industrial copper cabling from the Fairview gas fields.
Acting Sergeant Rolfe said preliminary information indicated that between 4pm on Saturday, April 8 and 6.30am on Sunday, April 9 unknown offender(s) had unlawfully gained entry to multiple laydown yards. The offender(s) used heavy machinery and vehicles to remove a large quantity of industrial grade copper cabling.
Police from Roma Stock And Rural Crime Investigation Unit want to talk to anyone who may have witnessed heavy vehicles driving around the Roma district over weekend carrying large quantities of copper cabling, particularly if they sighted the vehicles travelling on back roads.
Police are also asking the public to keep an eye out for anyone who they see in possession of similar cabling who normally would not have a need for it.
